Wasps build
a humming paper spire.

Scroll to climb the tower. Every stratum you pass wakes the swarm — cells rise, wings quicken, and the hum climbs with them. Tap the spire to lay paper yourself.

stratum 01 · foundation

The foundress chews the first carton.

Low, slow, almost subsonic. The first ring of amber hexagons goes up around the stalk and the whole tower breathes at one cycle per second. Keep scrolling — the spire camera climbs with you.

stratum 02 · brood comb

Sorrel-capped brood cells hum back.

Every fifth cell is capped in rust-red sorrel pulp. Capped cells resonate: the drone gains its buzzing upper partial, and wasps orbit faster the quicker you scroll. Flick the page and feel them startle.

stratum 03 · crown

The crown narrows toward the light.

Rings taper as the tower climbs. The hum brightens with altitude — the filter opens, the wings blur. At the crown you can sting the air (a pitch-zap) or freeze the whole swarm as an image.

tune the hum ↓

hum synth · live webaudio, no samples

Two oscillators and ten thousand wings.

A detuned saw + a sub sine, chewed through a band-pass like paper. Spire height sets the base pitch; scroll velocity bends it. Headphones on.

swarm export · take the colony with you

Freeze the swarm. Pocket the genome.

Export a PNG poster of this exact moment, download the colony genome as JSON, or copy a share-link that regrows the identical spire in any browser. Saved automatically to this device too.
